Greetings Industry Leaders and Innovators! James Harvey here.

I’ve been a machinist all my adult life. I’ve done machining, model making, CNC programming and mechanical design. In the course of constructing fixtures for machining, I found I had a knack for mechanical design which led me into inventing. I saw a need for a pepper spray flashlight that could shoot a stream of pepper spray in the same direction the light was shining and I wanted one. 

After countless prototypes this is what I came up with. The most challenging part of inventing for me is “keeping it simple.” In the end, I think I came up with a resourceful design because of its simplicity, functionality and ease of fabrication.
